Although I’d say this show didn’t have the best production quality, Jirou and Akari’s budding relationship has been a joy to watch, and this is one of those rare shows where I couldn’t resist picking up the manga before the season ended.

Also, in case anyone is interested in some spoilers, in the most recent chapter of the manga (ch. 56, not yet translated into English),Jirou finally, at long last, realizes that he loves Akari after all ❤️ . You’re welcome. :)

Another childhood friend has fallen. RIP.

Havoc • 1 year ago

Who told her take it easy and leash him around, she had her chance and she missed it, i like akari as she is much more aggressive and straight forward with her feelings compared to shiori

Andika Dwi • 1 year ago

bruh.
if you read manga
actually shiori is much more aggressive ~
(the reason why she always get the top rank in the couples exam)

karito • 1 year ago

fuck shiori

donicx • 1 year ago

She only started getting top after Jiro encouraged her... remember at the start she was at the bottom lol

JDC • 1 year ago

yeah but does she have sex appeal? NOOOOPE. that church girl look is nice and all but guys want the booba.

I would like to remind you , my wise friend:

Medium is premium,
Small is justice

FLAT IS JUSTICE
MEDIUM IS PREMIUM

Massive ain’t my thing.

Guys, it's okay. Look i understand but your girlfriend isn't t looking. Just admit it, you like them big

Scorpi Corn • 1 year ago

Gouda Takeo • 1 year ago

Actual literal cap. While I do like Akari better in this show, in real life a more reserved and sweet girl is always best imo. Akari is actually quite sweet and innocent in that sense as well she just dresses quite a bit lighter.

I knew it was going to happen T_T Didn't read the manga but it was self explanatory.

Denji The Knot Devil • 1 year ago

Reminds me of Golden Times. R.I.P childhood fwend.

Please, Don't remind of that Tragedy. Man.

A F • 9 months ago

Yeah the same also goes to Nisekoi....i hate it when the plot turns out like this since the childhood friend is more better than the MC girl

Kirito • 1 year ago

I feel sorry for her she's just so nice but hey she's with tenjin

Rannen 19 • 1 year ago

it's normal anime logic childhood friend always lose. Only Naruto has a childhood friend that succeeded.

Gouda Takeo • 1 year ago

Could you really call Hinata a childhood friend tho…

Rannen 19 • 1 year ago

Yes, she is and Hinata has a childhood crush on him. xD

Gouda Takeo • 1 year ago

I know she had a crush on him but they barely hung out at all. How are they friends?

TenseiSensei • 9 months ago

I’d probably have to agree.

This might be a hot take, but if anything Sakura would’ve been the childhood friend.

Because Hinata was part of the whole friend group that they had going on, but the feelings were very one sided.

Though, many romcoms also have one sided childhood friend crushes so that’s a moot argument.

Still, wouldn’t consider Hinata to be a childhood friend in the way most childhood friends in Romcoms work.

Dbz Directioner • 1 year ago

I agree with you.

Havoc • 1 year ago

Well other anime teaches other childhood friends to take initiative and not lose their chance😂😂😂

KrondaliX • 1 year ago

Well that's good he realized his feelings but i sort of feel a bad omen for Akari and Jirou in the next chapters and i'm pretty sure Shiori will take advantage of that. After all, she kissed him and gave him up to Akari when they could change couples.

Sometimes, better waiting for the break than jumping to an hellfire love triangle ;)

I mean .... It was obvious when he did not make a move on the Double Rainbow.....

Also - Akari is just set up in such a way, you just can`t NOT appreciate her & just like her, for being so adorable and sexy at the same time.

I really really like both heroines, but i was secretly rooting for team Akari.
She can cook, she can be fashionable, she is clingy just the right amount, she gets jealous for you. She returns kindness with "ERO" - so i can get behind that. She is just great.

Sakurazaka & Jirou would definitely HAVE been a THING, if both of them had the "Guts" to just "Go For it" & confess their feelings for each other.
If both of them are "Bottoms" in the relationship, who will take the LEAD ?!

In this situation, Akari is being bold & aggressive..... So i hope things work out for her and Jirou :)

My main problem with this series is this school having a marriage course but seemly not giving any prior courtship guidance.
Actually, every time youths are too naive, it's due to adults sheltering & overcoddling them, but it's more obvious here.
But it's not surprising considering how traditional East Asia still is.

Kei • 5 months ago

This is japan afterall..their birth rate has drastically declined now, i wouldn't be surprised if they added ntr type animes in future.

lampuiho • 3 months ago

more to do with the economy than anything.

Kingelmo • 1 year ago

I totally disagree, appreaciate what exactly? Blinded by her sexual bravado. She is self centered and arrogant. She wasn
t used to a regular joe like the protag. In reality her feelings are as fickle as the wind. A girl like that isn't gonna stay long. Because love is a feeling. And a relationship is the school that graduates into marriage and marriage is beyond love. She'd leave him. Why do people root for her, shes a terrible person.

Qween Qingzanor • 1 year ago

As usual, this is another romance series dominated by dragged-out courtship & prudish cliches.

Kei • 11 months ago

Reminds me of Karuizawa Kei from COTE. But she has traits as Hori-san from Horimiya.

Sakura's Dark Hope210 • 1 year ago

sad that Jirou could not share together with Akari and Shiori. They should try polygamy XD

I'm rooting for both of them. Either Akari or Shiori wins, it's a happy chapter for me. Both of em girls showed their efforts and commitment

I already read chapter 55 and it's great! waiting for chapter 56 to be translated.. Agree with you to be honest I really like this more than My Dress Up darling, If this anime advertised properly or another big time studio animate this I think it will be treated similar to My Dress Up Darling more than I think. This anime deserve to have Season 2 :)

Johny G • 1 year ago

This was absolutely better than My Dress Up Darling.

ohmiodio • 1 year ago

From an MC and theme standpoint MDD is much better. but Akari's struggle is very well developed and akari is such a good natured character it draws you in anyways. but Goto is much better than Jiro character wise.

MeguminExplosion • 1 year ago

My dress up darling is for simple simps. I watched it for the booba and only the booba. Everyone watched it for the fanservice and im tired of pretending its not.

Dbz Directioner • 1 year ago

A man who can accept truth, I respect that.

ohmiodio • 1 year ago

never did i dispute that point. most of it is fanservice. its just that Gotou is better developed and the story has something other than pure lust to revolve around. like Marin isnt only about Goto all the time, she's also really into cospaly and the cosplay scene. but Akari and SHiori, if you noticed, havent had any other interest beside the MC (or Minami, but just as a comparison rather than an actual antagonist). This show wouldnt pass the Bechdel test if it was a US movie. but MDD would!

Underwater • 9 months ago

Gojo does have more personality than jiro

Justin Posey • 1 year ago

totally agree, Akari was the better female character, not that the girl from My dress up darling was bad, and Goto was the better male lead character compared to Jiro, I think a huge reason I like this anime more is because more romance and character development happened in the same amount of episodes... My Dress up Darling didn't really get to the point where Goto was being as physical and emotional imo

Qween Qingzanor • 1 year ago

KiseKoi & FuuKoi have totally different themes.

KiseKoi: Wakana & Marin's passions intersect, then Marin's awe & appreciation transforms into love while Wakana struggles to bond due to lingering childhood trauma related to being insulted for his passion.

FuuKoi: Mutual secret admirers Jirou & Shiori get flustered by a romance school project they knew was coming but were totally unprepared for. Due to prudish naivety, Akari & Jirou get too attached despite having puppy-love crushes on other people.

I prefer Marin for somewhat being in touch with her libido unlike typical prudish charas like Akari.

Qween Qingzanor • 1 year ago

Wakana has no idea he's in a love polygon, to be fair, Jirou only slightly knows, so Jirou has a slight inclination of love unlike Wakana, I guess.

ohmiodio • 1 year ago

Wakana has also a sort of professional relationship with the people aroudn him so i think that sort of cloud his judgement a lil. but he sure isnt like the MC of Rascal does not dream of Bunny Senpai, he was a real smooth fella, more MC should be portraied like him.

Qween Qingzanor • 1 year ago

Wakana: typical Japanese overpoliteness + still being haunted by being dissed for his passion; typical beta chara but prudish cliches while interacting with Marin subverted a little bit.
Sakuta (AoButa): Somewhat confident but still prone to cliched overreactions.
